Hailing from St. Petersburg FL, Josh Helms has spent the last 15 years honing the craft of songwriting and
discovering what it means to deliver those songs to a live audience. From an early age Josh began leading worship
in hisFather’s church where he fell in love with music and songwriting. “As far back as I can remember I’ve been
singing in church and I would always stick at least one of my original songs in the set list,” Josh admits. While in
college in Florida Josh tried out and was selected to be a finalist on USA Network’s Nashville Star 2 years in a row.
During these trips to Nashville to sing at both the Wildhorse Saloon and The Stage on Broadway Josh fell in love
with Nashville and everything the city had to offer. “I knew then that I had to move here and to keep myself in the
craft of writing and performing country songs. I was hooked!”
Shortly after moving to town Josh began writing songs with published songwriters and singing at songwriter rounds
around town.
In 2006 Josh married his wife and together they took a job at a large church in Tampa as the music director. During
his time there the church fell in love with Josh’s original songs and in 2009 Josh released a worship record titled “So
the World May Hear.” The songs on this record are sung at churches all over the country weekly with 8 songs
in the top 2000 reported songs by churches in America according to CCLI. The success of this record also allowed
Josh to make constant trips back to Nashville to continue writing and performing and in 2010 when Josh admits “I just
could not stay away anymore,” he moved back to town fulltime.
With a catalogue of nearly 300 songs Josh has written with many successful writers including Michael Howard, Carl
Cartee, Alli Rogers and Grammy nominated writers Sam Mizell and Robert White Johnson. Josh is a regular, featured
artist in weekly writers rounds in Nashville.
Josh, along with his full band is a weekly headliner in many of Nashville's most historic honky tonks.
